NAPSO sponsored SB279 strengthens NRS 289

On July 8, 2025 Governor Lombardo held a ceremonial signing of SB279. SB279 amended NRS 289 to strengthen notice requirements for all law enforcement officers as described in section 289.060 and also codified the 48 hour advance notice requirement for witnesses. These changes were important to augment the due process protections that all officers receive under NRS 289 and prevent abuses that had been seen in some department IA bureaus. SB 279 passsed both houses of the legislature unanimously and was signed into law by the governor shortly afterwards. Special thanks to Senator Pazina for sponsoring the bill.
