Carson City, Nevada

February 11, 2017

One very important Bill has finally appeared and is ready for the fight.  Almost all of our groups have been suffering through what we know as Senate Bill (SB) 241 from the 2015 session.  That's the bill (incorporated into NRS 288) that eliminated Evergreen Clauses from your contracts, substantially altered the current Union leave time that most of our groups enjoy, etc.

Well, enter Assembly Bill (AB) 121.  This bill contains amendments to the old SB 241 by restoring Evergreen Clauses and restoring Union leave time, among other changes. NAPSO was instrumental in writing those amendments with our colleagues in the statewide Law Enforcement Coalition.  Assemblyman Steve Yeager is sponsoring the Bill for us and it finally entered the picture on Thursday, February 9, 2017.  It has been assigned to the Assembly Committee on Government Affairs.  We will participate in the debate that will surely arise concerning our amendments.

Keep watching for our weekly updates from the Legislature.  If you wish to reach me directly in Carson City during the session, contact me on my cell phone at (702) 595-0683 or through my e-mail at

As always, be safe.

Rick McCann
NAPSO Executive Director
